There's no such thing as the perfect ha....

I can not recommend this hat highly enough. I've owned this hat for a year now, it's made been with me through some epic hikes and adventures, and has never failed me. I hadn't left a review until now but this week we were walking through York and I banged my head on a tree knocking my hat into the river ouse, I couldn't believe how heartbroken I was thinking I might lose it, I managed to fish it back out with a tree branch ( they do float ) and I'm going to have to be without out it for a couple of days while it drys from washing and a new bit if waterproofing. Love this hat.

Gone is the quality and interaction of the Tilley company that made them the best. Made in China and no guarantee of replacement . Sad to see

T3 Wanderer - Nice Hat - I miss the Maple Leaf Snaps and the "Brag Tags"

Original T3

About 10 years ago I found a T3 Tilley floating in the lake (no ID inside, no body attached). Since then I have worn the treasured hat hiking and on several long sailing ocean passages. Between the salt, sweat, and sun, it is finally wearing through. Repairs have been made with sailcloth and stitching,.... but it's time has come.

T3W Replacement

Today I received a T3W that I ordered as a replacement. While a fine hat, I am a little disappointed that there are No Maple Leaf Brass Snaps, and surprisingly NO Brag Tags. These were quirky items that gave the hat personality and character. (Many people enjoyed story about the elephant eating the hat, and the zookeepers retrieval) The patina on the brass snaps and eyelets , while dull, reflected many past memories and adventures.

Sadly, a Tilley is now... just another hat.

Sometimes changes are good, sometimes you have to maintain tradition... and quit while your ahead.

I hope I can get 10 years out of the new hat, but will keep my original as a " wearable log book" of memories.

Thanks

Wonderful!

A year ago, I was vacationing in Alaska and needed a hat to survive the wind and rain; I went to the local REI and found a best friend. After the trip, we wound up with a puppy labrador retriever and I have been out in thick and thick! Rain and winter mix, my Tilley is my comfort, and I can sinch that thing on my head! I swear one windy day I almost left my boots, but the Tilley stayed on.
